Western Society has periodically undergone times of major transformation that include changes in institutions, values, and beliefs. These paradigm shifts result in cohesive historical eras, which taken together form a historical framework for the West. A comparison with the previous eras with the current one enables the reader to understand the context in which we live.
3. Two Visions
Two very distinct understandings of what it means to be a Christian have emerged and are now competing with one another. In order to clarify the differences between the two, we must analyze the underlying assumptions and principles that reside beneath the surface.
